Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child expect at their first visit?

All initial consultations begin with an electrocardiogram. Your child will be weighed and measured. Our physicians will take a birth, health and family history followed by a physical examination. Echocardiogram will be performed in most cases to detect structural abnormalities of the heart. All tests are noninvasive and pain free. We encourage you to ask questions and come prepared with as many questions you would like to ask. You are welcome to call us at any time after the visit if you have additional questions or concerns. It is important to us that you fully understand your child’s diagnosis and instructions for care and follow up

Will there be a follow-up appointment?

Our physicians may recommend a follow up visit for your child. Even though you may feel your child is doing well or has recovered; follow up for specific health problems is a good standard of care and insures your child’s wellbeing. Follow up visits generally last thirty minutes and include an electrocardiogram which will be compared with the initial study.

What is an electrocardiogram?

Electrocardiogram, also called an EKG or ECG checks for signs of heart disease. It's a test that measures and records the electrical activity of your heart through small electrode patches that are attached to the skin of your chest, arms, and legs. EKGs are quick and painless. Through this test, your doctor will be able to:

  • Measure your heart rhythm
  • See if you have poor blood flow to your heart
  • Check on things that are abnormal
The entire procedure takes roughly 10-15 minutes

What is the payment and cancellation policy?

A completed registration form and credit card information is requested and kept in a confidential file with your medical record. Co payments are collected on the day of service. Your insurance company will be billed after your visit. If you have a balance you will receive a bill from our office and you may pay with your credit card or check. Please be advised that twenty-four hour notice on a business day is required for cancellations. It is important that you arrive for your appointment on time. Late arrivals may need to be re scheduled. New patients require a full hour of the doctor’s time. Follow up appointments are scheduled for thirty minutes. A $200 fee is charged for late cancellation or failure to cancel, since it is our policy not to schedule more than one patient in an appointment slot.
